Review: St. Tropez Extra Dark Self Tan Mousse

price: $45 on QVC

type: a mousse with an olive-based color guide.

product call-outs: paraben-free and vegan with natural DHA

key ingredients: coconut oil to moisturize, jojoba oil to nourish, vitamin C to brighten

texture: a lightweight velvety mousse

dry time: around 7 minutes

scent: St. Tropez’s signature sweet scent

(hot) take on the tan: It delivers a rich, deep, long-lasting tan that is perfect for those that love a noticeably darker, yet natural-looking tan. This tanner has landed itself in my top three super dark mousses thanks to the longevity of the tan, how quickly it dries, the even skin finish, and last but not least: the color. It’s a noticeably darker tan, but its olive-green base counteracts cool undertones for a natural-looking tan.

how we applied: Applied two layers all over the body (excluding the face) right before bed, let develop while sleeping, and then rinsed the color guide off in the morning. While I let the tan sit for about nine hours before rinsing, you can definitely achieve a dark tan in about four.

brand background: St. Tropez has one of the most extensive range of self tanning products on the sunless market — which is how is likely how it’s gained so much popularity and ended up on the shelves of retailers like QVC, Sephora, and Ulta. And while the range ensures there’s something for everyone, it’s each product’s skin finishing treatments that retains the customer’s loyalty.
