(hot) take on the tan: A lot of express self tanners can tend to overdo it on the DHA to overcompensate for the short development time which ultimately results in a dark, unnatural looking tan — but not Tarte’s Brazilliance. The two-hour express tanning mousse gives a dark yet natural looking tan that really does hit it’s peak about two hours after application. The mousse hits all of the marks that an express tanning solution should; it’s dark, natural-looking, non-sticky, stick-free, and really does work within just two hours. It’s the perfect solution when you need. tan and fast. What’s more? It lasts for about five days before fading and since it’s moisturizing it fades very evenly.

how we applied: On clean, dry skin swiped two layers of the tanning mousse on each body part. I saved the hands and feet for last and used a lotion as a barrier cream on the palms of my hands, bottoms of my feet, elbows, and ankles. Then, I used a kabuki brush to apply a light layer to the tops of my hands and feet, making sure to get all creases. I showered after almost three hours and my skin was about three shades darker.

Known for its colorful, playful esthetic, the cosmetics brand is also cruelty-free, and formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, and other synthetic ingredients. And while its known for products like its cult-favorite Shape Tape Concealer and bright eyeshadow palettes, you need to get to know the brand’s self tanning range, too.
