Types of courses: I offer in-person spray tan training at The Glow Up Lounge, travel the DFW and West Texas area to trainees, and offer virtual training.
What is the format of your training program? I try to be as personalized and accommodating as possible for my trainees. I prefer in-person at my salon because I can shut down the salon for the full day and give each trainee individualized one-on-one training in a way that they learn best. I also offer Zoom trainings.
How long have you been in the industry? 15 years
How did you get started in the industry? I started doing tans with a crappy little pen airbrush gun I got off of Craigslist. I had to basically beg friends and family to let me tan them since spray tans had such a horrible reputation at that time. I've spent years trying to disprove that myth. I was mobile, rented rooms at salons and boutiques, and eventually ended up where I am now running my own salon for the past six years. I’m a Founding Member of Sunless Evolution, have been featured on the Happy Tans Podcast, was voted “Best Tanning” four years in a row in my county, and hold numerous awards and certifications in the sunless industry, as well as have been a trainer for Unfiltered Tanning Solution for over a year now.
Do you offer certifications? Yes. I offer spray tan certifications as well as certificates of completion for the Unfiltered Solution training.
Course pricing:
In-person CEO of Glow at my salon: $600
In-person CEO of Glow at trainee’s location: $600 + travel expenses
In-person Unfiltered Training: $150
Zoom Full CEO of Glow Spray Tan Certification: $600
Zoom Unfiltered Solution Training: $100
You can combine Unfiltered Solution training with a full CEO of Glow spray tan certification and take $50 off the total price.
How long are your courses? Full CEO of Glow training is a full day. I say eight hours, but often times we get deep into things and they are 10 hours or so. Unfiltered Solution training takes between one and two hours.
What do your courses entail? Is it solely training how to spray tan or do you offer business guidance as well? In my trainings, I give every bit of knowledge I have gathered over the past 15 years. I want my trainees to leave their time with me ready to hit the ground running. We go over techniques, every solution available on the market, mixing [solutions], layering [solutions], social media, marketing, SEO, legal and how to set up your business, and more. I hold nothing back as my previous trainees can attest to. I also offer lifetime help to each trainee. I still have some [trainees] I trained years ago call or text me when they run across something they have never encountered or can't remember [how to solve]. I really want all those that train with me to succeed, so I make myself an open book for them.
What are your go-to brands/solutions? Do you have a specific solution you suggest beginners train with? Unfiltered (@UnfilteredSunless) hands down is my favorite and all I currently use. I am an Unfiltered trainer and truly believe in the powerhouse line of solutions Karla has created. The color and fade is unlike any other on the market.
What is the most important lesson you hope your trainees learn during your course? They are the key to their own success — not the solution line they use, or the equipment, or marketing. The secret ingredient is them. No one can replicate or copy that magic.
