(hot) take on the tan: For the launch of SOL by Jergens Deeper by the Drop self tanning serum, the brand enlisted Kylie Jenner’s go-to makeup artist Ariel Tejada (@makeupbyAriel) to share how and when to use the new drops. Ariel also shared his own affinity for sunless tanning and we chatted about how a sunless glow can create the baseline glow for any makeup look.

After using about 10 drops with my nightly moisturizer and developing for around eight hours, the drops delivered a medium bronze tan that lasted for about three days (which is great given my rigorous skincare routine). However, it’s the infusion of coconut water in SOL’s drops that really set them apart from other drops, as the ingredient leaves the skin super supple long after applying. But that’s not all, the drops also leave an evenly tanned complexion — even in hard-to-tan places like the eyebrows and hairline.

how we applied: According to the instructions, you can apply the tanning drops to your face and body, however, I opted to use solely on the face, neck, and décolletage. As the last step in my nightly skincare routine, I dropped about 10 drops into my favorite moisturizer and applied from the neck up in an upward motion. The drops begin to develop in about four hours, but I slept in mine for about eight hours before waking up to a medium bronze glow. Pro tip: Don’t forget to wash your hands after applying.
