How did you get started in the spray tanning industry, and what inspired you to offer spray tans in Greenwood?
"I have been a licensed hairstylist since 2014 and have been behind the chair ever since. When I was in beauty school, I worked at Sun Tan City and really started to appreciate a good tan. I noticed how good clients felt when they left, just like my hair clients felt after an appointment with me.
Eventually, I left Sun Tan City to do hair full-time. At my first salon, the salon owner and I decided to teach ourselves how to spray tan. We took a hand-me-down spray tan gun, solution from the supply house, and a cheap Amazon spray tan tent and did the dang thing! We built a consistent clientele, and it just worked.
Unfortunately, that salon didn't work out for me, and the salon I moved to didn't have space for spray tans, so I took a hiatus for about three years. I knew I wanted to do something more than hair, and I was obsessed with the spray tan industry. Eventually, I convinced my new salon owner to let me take over a teeny-tiny room, which I turned into my spray tan room, and I haven't looked back.
Being able to give clients a little boost of confidence and then seeing that confidence shine through in their pictures on social media really fills my cup."
Tell us about your salon and the beauty services you offer in Greenwood, Indiana.
"I work behind the chair on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, offering four methods of hair extensions, blonding services, lived-in colors, and gray coverage.
I also keep my books open Monday through Friday for custom spray tans. I love spray tanning for any and all events, but I especially love when clients come in and simply say they want to feel good about themselves with a little color. You don't need a special occasion to treat yourself to a spray tan!"
What makes your spray tans and client experience different from other spray tan artists?
"My spray tans are 100% customizable and very detailed. We don't skip any prep or post-spray steps because I truly believe every client needs that level of care, especially in the area we're in. Finishing powder and blending are always included, too.
I've been told that some of the features I include in my spray tans are things other artists charge a ridiculous amount extra for. I believe those details are important to the overall experience, and I want my clients to get the best possible results.
And, of course, I will always spray tan everyone. It doesn't matter your size, gender, skin color, or age. Everyone deserves to feel good about themselves!"
How do you customize each spray tan to your client's skin type, desired color, and individual needs?
"My first question is always, 'What are we tanning for?' I think that's a huge factor in deciding which solution to use and what shade of tan we're going for.
I always follow that up by asking about their skin type, whether it's dry, oily, or somewhere in between, so I can determine which post-spray products will work best for them. I love Gloss by Glazed because of how hydrating it is.
I also ask about any 'problem' areas or areas they're insecure about. Personally, I'm insecure about my arms, so I love having them contoured to give them more definition. I think every client should have that option if it's something they want!"

"My ride-or-dies are Glazed and Nuda! I flip-flop between the two depending on what my client needs and what I think would look best on them.
Both brands are great for the skin, and they're consistent. You know exactly what you're working with every single time, which is so important when you're creating a customized tan. Having reliable solutions allows me to focus on what works best for each individual client and their desired results."
What types of occasions do clients in Greenwood typically book spray tans for?
"Bridal tans are a big hit for me right now! I include a trial tan with my bridal package so clients have the opportunity to see how their tan looks in photographs, with makeup, and in different lighting before the big day.
I love spray tanning for all kinds of events, but I also love when someone comes in simply because they want to feel good about themselves. Whether you're preparing for your wedding, going on vacation, attending a special event, or just want a little extra glow, you don't need a reason to book a spray tan.
